The door features a digital lock that will retain 2 pin codes. Each one can be anywhere from 4-6 digits long. The safe takes 4 AA batteries (included) which should last about a year. A low battery alert will sound when they get low. alerting you to change them when necessary. There is a key override with 2 barrel keys included that allows you to get into the safe if the batteries die or you forget your combination.
